The Jasenovac Memorial Site will mark the day of remembrance of April 22, 1945, the day of the breakout of the Jasenovac inmates,  when all the victims of that camp, as well as the surviving prisoners, are honored.

The annual commemoration will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, on the 78th anniversary of the breakout of prisoners from the Jasenovac concentration camp, starting at 11:00 a.m., in the Jasenovac Memorial Site near the Flower Memorial.

The delegations of the Croatian Parliament and the Government, led by Speaker of the Parliament Gordan Jandroković and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, as well as the Co-chairs of the Croatian IHRA Presidency, Ambassador Terezija Gras and Sara Lustig, will participate in the commemoration.

Delegations will later visit the Roma Memorial Centre Uštica to pay tribute to the victims of the Roma genocide.

Jasenovac Memorial Site is in the immediate vicinity of the former Jasenovac concentration camp, Camp III (Brickworks). Along with the memorial area, Jasenovac Memorial Site is responsible for the original, preserved camp building known as The Tower, the Stara Gradiška Camp cemetery, the Roma cemetery in Uštica and the mass graves in Krapje, Mlaka and Jablanac. Jasenovac is a place in which visitors will discover the suffering and incredible courage of the Jasenovac victims, but also learn of the strength of hope in life and faith in humankind, as emphasized in particular by the survivors.
